As an individual, you are interested in the water sector. On the one hand, because water is a invaluable good that must be protected, and on the other hand, because water has a cost whose impact is not always understood as it is a vital natural resource. Protection and cost are tightly linked.

Here, our goal is to bring answers that will allow everybody to understand better these two aspects.

To do this, we suggest to approach the water cycle by explaining, more in depth, why and how the SPGE takes part in it.

In Belgium, with the various State reforms, the water sector has been passed on from the federal State responsibility to the Regions responsibility. The Walloon Region, with its 262 municipalities, is therefore charged with the water policy. Each Region makes decisions while taking the European directives into account, that is, the regulatory framework set up by the European Union and imposed on Member States.
